Manon Lescaut with Daffodil Cover

Banned book alert! Beautiful copy of Manon Lescaut with a yellow daffodil on the front cover. If you are a fan of banned books, this one is for you! Banned in France when it was originally published because of its “immoral subject matter” of two lovers living together, it became so popular that bootlegged copies were being sold like crazy. Eventually they lifted the ban because it wasn’t working {obvs}. This lovely copy was published by Henry Altemus. Undated c1900. Minor bumping to corner. Beautiful copy. Pages clean and bright. Very good condition. Please note that this is a vintage item and will show its age.
